Mary's Tacos planning to expand and relocate

Mary’s Tacos, one of Kerrville’s most popular taco spots, has plans to expand and relocate.

A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
shows that the family-owned and operated business is planning a $1.25 million new construction build for a 4,364-square-foot restaurant at 1515 Broadway in Kerrville.

The permit, submitted in June of 2024, shows that construction began in August of last year. While it is not clear how far along construction is at this time, the filing states that the new restaurant is expected to open on Oct. 1.

Fillings with TDLR are subject to change.

Mary’s Tacos originally began in the Boerne area and over the years expanded to Kerrville and Helotes. It is a low-key, counter-serve Mexican eatery dishing up a variety of tacos.

Gil Villanueva and his wife own the restaurant. The couple has more than 20 years of experience with other restaurants they own and operate in the Hill Country.

As of publication, the Villanueva’s could not be reached for comment.

Mary’s Tacos is currently located at 1616 Broadway. The local eatery is open from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays.
