Tivy soccer coach Reece Zunker, wife Paula and two children have been reported missing by family members in Kerr County after the catastrophic flooding on Friday.
Zunker grew up in New Braunfels before discovering his passion for coaching during his junior year of college through volunteer coaching with Uvalde High School’s football team.
After graduation, Zunker taught for a semester at Dallas Lakeworth before landing an opportunity at Tivy High School, where he has been for the past 12 years.
According to a family member, Zunker and his family were vacationing at a river house in Hunt along with Paula’s mother, Lucy. The house sat on the river between Camp La Junta and Camp Mystic.
Zunker’s parents have been reported safe in Ingram.
“The TFND (Tivy Fight Never Dies) community would like to extend an ‘all call’ to pray for all of those affected by the historic flooding today, and a special petition for the Zunker family, who have yet to be brought to safety,” said Tivy Football Coach Curtis Neill.
